City walk between alleys and “Cone”

With the Christmas holidays approaching, the Catania Guides Association proposes an itinerary that aims to bring to light the many signs of popular devotion: the votive shrines or icons found in our city.

These are forms of folk art, expressions of a deep-rooted and widespread ancient religiosity that persists over time as a now faded testimony to a living faith that has marked entire generations over the centuries.

What you visit

We will travel the backstreets and alleys of the historic center of Catania, comparable to a treasure chest of art where there are the majestic and monumental Baroque churches but also small jewels of sacred art that are often undervalued.

The tour also features a journey into the memory of traditional “cones,” entrusted to the voice and touching performance of professional actress Marta Limol.
His voice will be the memory of the stories and texts typical of Christmas novenas.
Making it even more enjoyable and interesting is a tasting of traditional sweets.
